Hey guys~! this is my first article on steemit.
Nice to meet you all :) !!
My name is Chen and I used to live in Berlin for one and a half year, and I won't forget about it! So first article I wanna say something about Berlin.
Berlin
The nightlife here is limited to drinking and dancing. Long night at the museum, science night, watching drama, winter shopping around the Christmas market and other more formal activities won't be mentioned here, although these are also important attractions in Berlin. But what really makes young people thrilled, regardless of nationality, is to hear the word "Berlin", because of it's bizarre "nightlife."
Berlin is the capital of Europe's nightlife and this is historic. Berlin's fame as an electronic music and party capital spread throughout the West as early as during the Cold War era. In West Berlin in the 1980s, young people trapped in the Berlin Wall were fighting against reality with noisy music, sex, and no-night parties The absurdity and nihility of the world, the excitement and chaos of the time, just look at these names: Nick Cave, David Bowie and Iggy Pop, all of whom were in West Berlin in the 1980s.
To understand Berlin's party culture (or just an hour and a half for adrenaline burst), you can watch the documentary "B-Movie: Lust & Sound in West-Berlin 1979-1989." After reading this you will understand what is "The Last Carnival" or "No Tomorrow". And then, you will understand the lament of some people: the coolest time in Berlin is over, and now the party in Berlin is just the indignity of the end of the 1980s.
B-Movie
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the city is in full swing. At that time it attracted a large number of students and young artists because of it's extremely low rent and prices compared with other Western European countries. They poured in East Berlin and the center of nightlife gradually moved eastward. The original abandoned building in East Berlin was utilized, the basement was transformed into a bar, the factory became a club, Berghain, the temple of electronic music fans, was originally housed in a power plant in East Germany. The best nightclubs are now almost east, with the Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg and Neukölln districts the most active partisans.
While the tide of "Gentrification" has inevitably hit Berlin in recent years, as land prices in urban areas have been rising, high-end office towers and homes have skyrocketed, Starbucks and chain malls have been moving into every corner of the city. Many people shouted the slogan "Berlin is dead" while cities like Warsaw, Dresden and Budapest compete for the title "next Berlin." But we still dare to say that these "next Berlin" are not Berlin after all. Berlin is still one of the best cities in Europe for nightlife, not one of them.
Because "Arm aber sexy" attitude (poor but sexy) is still the core of Berlin, decadent beauty, alcohol, carnival, has deeply integrated into the city's character. Just grasp the rhythm of Berlin, you will find the nightlife here regardless of time, regardless of location, regardless of age, the city itself is a huge party.
Regardless of time: most city nightlife peak night is on weekends, but in Berlin, you do not need to care about the week of midweek and weekend, and some people even suggest that you do not rush out on Friday and Saturday night - - Because too many people, a few famous nightclub queuing long queue will be very scary, the door bouncer have a greater chance of inattentive mood will not let you in. Every nightclub on Wednesdays and Thursdays usually has a great event to go to Watergate for Wednesday, while the pilgrimage to Berghain, the nocturnal nocturnal nightlife, is the best night out . Because Berghain's door is notoriously unforgiving, if you go on Saturday, you are likely to be outside the door by bouncer for a simple, but undeniable, "nein." Of course, if you just want to have a drink, then it is even more important that you are not over the weekend, and the pubs, big and small, are brisk every night.
Regardless of location: Berlin's bars and nightclubs are all over the city, although the center is east of the city, each has its own bar. Kiez is a term often bordered by Berliners, referring to the small area in which he lives. Each Kiez has a unique personality label, Berliners have a deep sense of belonging to their Kiez, and Kiez-Kulture (neighborhood culture) is one of Berlin's distinctive subcultures. You live in any area of Berlin, and there is sure to be a Kiez Kneipe (neighborhood tavern) nearby, with a low-pitched atmosphere and no visitors. This type of bar is often frequented by local residents in a neighborhood. If you want to have a quick drink and chat with nearby residents, you can go here. There's one more thing about "Regardless of location", meaning that the nightlife in Berlin does not necessarily happen at bars or nightclubs. Unlike most cities in Europe, Berlin does not forbid drinking alcohol in public places, so you'll see beer-beating people on the bridge, in the street, in the park, at a subway station on weekends and suddenly someone releases the music, so it instantly become a dance floor.
High latitude: Budapest, Belgrade, Bucharest ... As young people in Europe start to move to Eastern European cities because cheaper drinks and cheaper drinks are available, the atmosphere of young hormones in the air of these emerging parties is nightly. In contrast, nightlife in Berlin is highly tolerant, ausgehen (go out and be wild) is not a patent for young people, but part of the daily life of most Berliners, where you see people of all ages. Because going to the pub nightclubs is similar to going out for dinner, the majority of places have no requirements for dress code (excluding the most famous and nightclubs with special restrictions such as the Kitkat on fetish) A pair of jeans, face to face, will not become heterogeneous. Berlin nightclubs and the minds of most people in the nightclub bling bling impression is very different, there is no gorgeous decoration, no mirror, no VIP or box level, no one to wear a suit evening dress, mostly the appearance of shabby, which dark, The DJs are great, the music is loud and people forget about being in the middle of all the dance.
So... where should we go?
