The historical Karahisar Castle, 226 meters high, with its songs, poems and manuscripts written on its behalf, sheds light from the past. The castle, which has been home to many beliefs, has been standing for thousands of years with all its grandeur.
Karahisar Castle, identified with Afyonkarahisar, is believed to have been built by Muratil the 2nd Hittite king, who organized a campaign for Arzava country about 3,340 years ago, in order to ensure that his troops pass the winter. The fortress, which was ruled by Lydians, Persians, Hellenic, Pergamon Kingdom, Pontic Kingdom, Romans and Byzantines in turn, changed hands several times during the expeditions to Anatolia, he joined the Seljuks in his time. The castle, which has changed hands many times, has always hosted a new myth, a new desta. For Karahisar Castle, many legends are told from Battal Gazi to Hazrat Ali, Beyböğrek to Çavuşbaşı and Horoz Dede. The traces of these legends are still preserved even today.

One wish in the arch of the kalenin door is a wish and 3 stones are taken. If 3 of the stones go into the bowl, it is believed that you will come to your place. There is also a belief that the person who climbed Karahisar Castle once would not leave Afyonkarahisar for 7 years.
