Exploring the Street Market in Tonalá - A Suburb of Guadalajara, MX, Contributed by @TangerineTravels

In case you're unfamilar with @tangerinetravels, we sold almost everything we owned in Phoenix, Arizona, and packed up our last remaining items in our tangerine-colored Toyota Prius. We (@shenanigator and @sharingeverybite) have spent the last two months traveling throughout Mexico, visited about a dozen cities, and have driven 1,800 miles (2,900 KM).

Our latest travels have brought us to the metropolis of Guadalajara (GDL), Mexico. GDL is the capital of the Mexican state of Jalisco and it's the second-largest city in all of Mexico, only trailing behind Mexico City.

Since GDL is a gigantic metropolis, we can only explore so much of it on foot. People have recommended that we visit various parts of the city, so we decided to spend some cash on an all-day bus tour. For $150 pesos ($8.23 USD) each, we both got a wristband for these huge, double-decker tour busses. The wristband allowed you to get on and off at any of the four stops at any time throughout the day.

The first stop on this tour was Tonalá, a town on the outskirts of GDL with a prominant street market, which we're featuring in this video.

We didn't have time to get a good breakfast before the tour started, so shortly after arriving on Tonalá Maddie found some tasty "Pan de elote" (corn bread) for 12 pesos or $0.66 USD from a street vendor.

Walking the sidewalks here is pretty crazy. It's one vendor after another lined up selling something different. This isn't just a one-day-a-week market kind of thing either, it's like this every day!

This is just one example of the many vendors here. They're selling herbs and other natural products to cure all sorts of ailments.

After walking around for about an hour and checking many of the various vendors, we went to El Centro (the center). Just about every city in Mexico has a Centro and most are really pretty. But El Centro in Tonalá left a lot to be desired. There wasn't much here except for, you guessed it, a ton of vendors!

The street market here in Tonalá was fun to see and we'd definitely return visit it again, but aside from that, I probably wouldn't want to spend much time here.
