ASIAN TRAVELOGUE #3 STEEP 'N HILLY HONGKONG

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

On my third journey outside my country-the Phillippines, I landed safely on the steep and hilly city of Hongkong.

Hong Kong is an autonomous territory on the eastern part of the Pearl River estuary in East Asia, situated south of the mainland Chinese province of Guangdong, which is east of the former Portuguese colony. Hong Kong, is actually a Cantonese word meaning Fragrant Harbor. The country is a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of the People's Republic of China. It is a place with varied and mixed personalities having been under British colonization and being Cantonese Chinese.

Climbing to the famous tourist attraction view deck of Hongkong called "The Peak Tram". will leave you panting keeping your breath at the top. The climb is tough but it's quite worth the labor as you view the whole city below from the top. A feeling of reward then will make you forget all the effort you exert climbing the stairs when you are on top.

Roads in Hongkong are slim, narrow and hilly. A tram is used for their transportation instead of jeepney-unlike the Philppines. Structures are tall and most buildings including residential ones use escalators or elevators. You will need to be strong and healthy in order to run and enjoy your stay in that magnificent little country or else
you will be spending your days at home all the time.

Life in Hongkong is fast and busy. People move and walk fast as if they are always in a hurry. Perhaps to get more money, I don't know since the city as I observe it is quite progressive. Food and cost of living are also expensive in Hongkong including its transportation within the city.
