Thailand Day 1 - Bangkok's Crazy Chinatwon

in travel •  7 years ago

I landed in Thailand this morning! To further confuse the husband who’s never been to Asia before, we’ve gone straight to Chinatown in Bangkok to hang at the Shanghai Mansion Hotel.

The building is more than a century old and outfitted with koi ponds, dark wood details and gorgeous lanterns. Such an escape from the chaos of the city just outside the front door. They’ve infused 1920s Chinese glamour with a Thai twist! Devored some memorable seafood (crab sticky rice with snow fish mmm) and crafty Chinese whiskey cocktails. All accompanied by live jazz in the open air restaurant.

Settling in quite nicely! Tomorrow I tackle the floating market in the morning.

I've not been to Asia before either! Enjoy and I look forward to following your adventures on here!

Cool bar. Was in Vietnam. Have not been to Thailand. Looks cool. Love music. Oh, Vietnam has a floating market, too.
