MASADA by the DEAD SEA / PHOTOGRAPHY by me - Awesome Place, Awesome Archaeology

We are very blessed indeed to be living in Israel. Even though we are not Israeli's (I work here from the States) we are able to venture out and see many historical sites around the Country. Every day is quite an adventure to say the least. On this day we traveled to the Dead Sea Region, specifically Masada. Masada is known for its last stand against the Romans. A mass suicide actually took place on this Mountain (One of Herod's castle fortresses). The Jews at the time decided to commit mass suicide so they did not fall into the hands of the Romans. Women, children were also killed by their loved one's own hands. This is mentioned in the book of Josephus.

I hope you enjoy the photos. Take care.

Remnants of the Roman Camp below. They built enormous rock walls around their camps still visible today.

My 2 oldest girls sitting on the edge of Masada. They had a great time indeed.

My middle daughter Nasya, playing around some archaeology ruins.

Thanks for taking this adventure with us to Masada.

Masada is an awesome place! As is much of Israel. I'm a little jealous that you get to explore it with your family. I was there with my wife before we had kids. It was a great experience but only increased my desire to see more of the Holy Land. We will go back to Israel.
