(VIDEO & ARTICLE) Van Broke Down at the Perfect Time & Place in Indiana - West to East & Back Vlog Part 5 - US Travels

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

On July 10th, @PriestessLaura and I wokeup in Indianapolis, Indiana and got in the van to head to Starwood Festival near Athens, Ohio to setup a healing space. As we were backing out of the driveway, I started to hear a peculiar noise coming from under the hood. I pulled over after only driving a block and saw that our serpentine belt was only half on the pulley track and was making contact in places that it shouldn't. Then I noticed that one of the pulleys was wobbling and a bolt was about to come out. Unfortunately I couldn't reach the bolt with the wrench set I had, so I looked up the nearest repair shop. The repair shop was only a mile away, so I decided to try and drive it there since it was a slow speed limit and not a busy road. After just one block, the serpentine belt came off which makes the power steering go out, and turns your battery indicator light on...

I probably could have driven the couple blocks without power steering, but I would rather not risk it. Called AAA and they saved the day with a free tow!

In under 2 hours, our van was back on the road for less than $150. Serpentine belt & idler pulley replaced. Arrived at the next stop in divine timing at 2:22
