Sandflies, New Home, and Beach Life

I've been out for a few days as I'm preparing to move to my new place. It has been such a stressful week because I've been planning how to start my life all over again. I found out that the internet signal is only strong on the beach. And it might mean that I have to always go there just to write for Steemit then probably run or swim too, not in exact order though. Or probably write an article while having a Mango Daiquiri, who knows? $10 a day for a fancy drink will do me no good, financially. I know life can be that harsh! Luckily, the beach is just a short bike ride away from my new place.

However cliché this may sound, “There's a rainbow always after the rain.” As you know, I've gone through a lot of things these past few months and moving to a new place seems like the best idea. Most importantly for my venture as I would be very close to my contractors, suppliers, hotel and resort owners. I would need to be there so I could easily deal with them in person.

I will soon live near a farm. Close to the cows and other farm animals. Because the rent is cheaper than in that tourist trap beach town. But at least, I'm surrounded by mountains, jungles, and beaches. Although I love nature very much, I have to adjust and adapt again. I've lived in a city for a while where I'm close to all the modern conveniences like shops, malls, and big supermarkets. There's a part of me that thinks I might get bored soon but I don't want to overanalyze yet. I tend to worry about the future all the time and it stresses me out.

I got my new place because I had to immediately make a payment or downpayment because I'm quite in tough competition with the travelers who also want to live here. Unfortunately, they are known as walking goldmines because they can easily pay anything upfront with their imported Euros, Dollars or whatever golden currency they use to lure the locals. And of course, the locals who are white-starved can be opportunists too. It happens in the touristic places especially in the developing world. But everyone's the same, NOBODY IS BETTER THAN THE REST. Just stop insisting. Anyway, the travelers will whine being overcharged when they themselves dangle their money in front of everyone who lives off their one night's worth of booze or party money. Tell me about their ways because honestly, I am so sick of hearing them complain about the locals or a place. I'm not saying that all travelers are like that but most of them just want to validate their 'messiah' complex if you know what I mean. Complaining about every single thing that is inferior to what they have in their society. So these days I am guilty of avoiding conversation with these people especially when I'm drunk. Just to avoid trouble. (Except if it's about business as cold as it sounds) Because things will just come out of my chest that easy! Especially after that messy drunken exchange of words with that European with an uppity character. Living in this new place might mean I might have more messy arguments with them because they are everywhere. And they just don't get that from the locals. They are being patronized so much (for money of course). But it does not work for me, like I won't put up with their shit or patronize their entitled tourist behavior. Somebody has to speak up sometimes, sober or not. Anyway, on the bright side, my shelter problem is out of the way now.

Know thy enemy as they say. So I know when they are around, how to kill or avoid them. It's not always sunshine here in paradise. The sandflies are on the loose just before it rains. Those pesky little monsters attack when you forget that you are in a wet sand part or in some warm and windless area. I have an allergic reaction to their bites and they would probably be my new enemies now, second to cockroaches. Scratching the itchy bites is just so tempting.

But hey, sandflies, bitterness and bad internet are not a good combo. I guess I'll just look forward to my new beach life and hope that everything will work out for me this time. If not, then it's not yet the end!

I hope you will not be surrounded by barking dogs or roosters...

I think they are everywhere now. As long as they are not near my house.

Beach is enough to see the real nature of nature!! I hope you will enjoy this travel very much :)

Thank you!

It's not a bad idea to write a steem post on beach where fast internet is available. May be the ambiance of beach, cool breeze and 10$ mango daiquiri made your post more worthy. Well in my opinion our surroundings effects our mood.
Glad to know that your new place is near to your contractor, resort owner, supplier and hotel. Life at your new place is simple. Our forefather lived simple life. In my 2 cent opinion there is peace in simplicity. If you want how our forefather live simple life you may visit my latest post. Thanks for sharing @diabolika

there is peace in simplicity.

That is true. I really prefer a simple life!

Unlike me, I feel there is no better place to write a post from than along the beach. The air waves from the ocean will absorb you into your own self. Getting everything that might interrupt your mind while writing out of the way.

Thank you!

Sounds like a smart move being close to the infrastructure for your business needs. Writing on the beach sounds great, of course, beach always sounds great when you're stuck in the cold inland mountain ranges. I am hoping to find a beach this summer for some read and relax time, crossing my fingers.

I prefer beaches with not so oppressive humid climate though. I really hate those sandflies!

10 bucks for a drink? Those are like night club prices lol. I guess it makes sense since it is right on the beach though.

I don't know why tourists get that attitude. It even happens here is the states but I can imagine that it is worse is some places than it is others. I have a bunch European family because I descend from recent immigrants and when they come to visit they love to criticize the things that make them uncomfortable here (which seems to be everything lol). I don't know what the point of traveling is if they don't like anything than isn't just like home.

I feel your pain about having to pull yourself away the city. I live in a sizable city but I had to spend six months in a small town and it was kind of hard to adjust and I was happy to come home.

Hahaha, you can imagine that it is really worse in some places. But you know they bring money to the place...

True!

Haha I didn't notice my typo until you quoted me lol.

That is true. When I lived in Hawaii tourists were most of the economy there. The locals take advantage of them (that seems to be true everywhere lol). Some people make a living by buying some cheap Hawaii themed stuff from gas stations and Wal-Marts then they take them to the beach and resell them for three times the price. I can't blame them though. It is an easy way to start a little business and the tourists are willing to pay $15 for a five dollar coconut piggy bank.

When the family comes here, they seem to have trouble with the food. I live near the Mexican border and its not a tourist city so the food is spiced with locals in mind and that seems to be way too hot for the people who aren't used to eating like that but there are lots of little things they seem a bit "judgey" about.

I know what you mean. There are people who are willing to pay a lot for things. And then others complain about being overcharged.

Haha yeah I guess it is the difference between the ones who know the game and are salty about how it works and the ones who care. I feel like it comes with being a tourist so it doesn't make sense to get mad about it.

If I sell everything and pack up and leave where do you recommend I go?

Hmmm, I posted a lot of places in the past but I will try to collect those and post here. I hope you find out where you really want to go.

My apologies, I either missed that post or was on steemit at that time, thanks

Great to hear you are almost done with your move. And great to hear from you , period. I'll admit to being a bit concerned after the second day of silence. (It's the Dad in me. lol)

Hoping this new spot brings better opportunities for you and your business!

Awww, I'm glad that someone out there noticed my absence!

Thanks!

Your writing is really inspiring me for what I share on Steemit.

Thank you @brightstar!

Mango Daiquiri is delicious and I'm sure you have the ability to feel at home in your new accommodation :)

Awww thanks!

Hoping to visit you soon. I'm excited to go back to that island as well. :)
