Augrabies waterfall is a enormous waterfall in the middle of the arid Northern Cape province of South Africa. Here the Orange river which originates in the wet Drakensberg highlands in the East of the country flows through ancient canyons carved our of this barren land. It has been rumoured that at the base of this particular waterfall could lie thousands of diamonds inside of the glory holes that are formed as the turbulant water meander around harder rock formations in the area. The river has fortunately never dried out for anyone to uncover them as the farming community in this relies so heavily on the water for irrigation. The Augrabies National Park is well worth a visit, but be prepared some some extremely high temperatures in summer. 21DE212E-524A-44DE-A455-C6A516EB16DB.jpeg
