I spent 3 nights in Martinborough over the last Christmas for a short break. I have been there several times but still, keep coming back to this lovely place. Martinborough is just an hour drive from Wellington. The only challenging bit is when you are cutting through Rimutaki mountain ranges. Once you have passed that, it is an easy drive all the way to Martinborough.
The best thing to do in Martinborough other than wine tasting is to cycle along the Martinborough's flat country roads, passing vineyards and olive groves along the way. You can bring along your bike if you have one, otherwise, you can rent one in Martinborough town. Some hotels may have bikes for rent too.
Vineyard after vineyard. Unforetunately, the vineyard cafe was close, otherwise it would be a great place to have a cuppa flat white.
I was there on Christmas day and there were literately no 🚗 on the road.
19C degree. Perfect whether for a 🚲. It was a breeze riding in circles.
That is me! 😄
The grapes🍇 are still green.
The view from the place I was staying.
afternoon sunlight beaming through the clouds
