ROUTE 66

1.jpg

Once again we are entering the famous Route 66. We’re stopping by Hackberry General Store Route 66, where we are admiring rich collections of equipment and cars, which are showing how Mother Of All The Roads looked like in the years of it’s greatness :)

2.jpg

After that we are reaching Kingman - one of the Cities on route 66.

4.jpg

And we’re visiting Mr. D’z diner. Famous restaurant that you can see in some movies about route 66.

5.jpg

We’re trying real American breakfast with pancakes, hard-boiled eggs, french toasts, grilled bacon and big coffee refill :) Damn how good this food was!

6.jpg

In the Town there are numerous signs for Route 66 - and of course I had to take some pictures with them :)

7.jpg

There is even a real locomotive that was used during gold rush. How big it is, is just incredible!

8.jpg

Next we are going through Oatman - Ghost Town from the wild west with original buildings.

9.jpg

and Tombstone, where we are watching cowboy shootout! :) What a great show!

10.jpg

I have to tell you, that the history behind all of this towns and gold rush is really interesting. And yes, Route 66 is famous, but you won't see too many tourists. At least we didn't

Going towards Houston we are entering storm front. Our bus is starting to leak and our planned wild accommodation for the night means sleeping, so to say"in the middle of the lake" :(

11.jpg

We are managing to deal with the leakage in the bus, but our accommodation for the night is starting to be a big problem.
Luckily we found Polish Roman Catholic Church Our Lady of Czestochowa with priest Bogusław, who is saving us from the rain and is accommodating us in the library which we are very grateful for. You can always count on your fellow-countryman :)

While staying in Houston we've visited NASA space center and learned a lot about space programs and also we've been in the room where the famous phrase was said from the grey speaker:

"Houston, Tranquility base here. The Eagle has landed"

15.jpg

Truly incredible experience.

After that we moved towards Tennessee to visit Jack Daniel's distillery and learn the process of making famous corn whiskey.

16.jpg

We've also visited the origins of KFC. But to be honest, chicken in here doesn't taste that great. Hard to say why.

17.jpg

Then while visiting Washington D.C. we saw Lincoln statue, White House, and even Discovery shuttle that went to space 39 times!

18.jpg

Ohh... And how could I forget our visit to Natural History Museum? Even since I saw it in the movies I wanted to see it in person. Incredible collections. And this big elephant in the lobby? Just love it!

21.jpg

And then, finally we went back to NYC to ship our beloved BUS back to Europe.
Last moments together on this continent - I drove the ZielonymBusem team to the airport. 5 of us are going home ;)

23.jpg

I'm staying in here to continue my travel across Americas.
I'm very happy, that I could've been a part of this great team, experience lots of unforgettable adventures and spend this great three months together.

I'm sure we will meet again :)
I will miss you for sure. Btw make sure to checkout their website (in Polish) Zielonym Busem

Ahoy adventure!
