We arrived in NYC!!!!
After long flight, mine from Cracow and the rest of the team from Berlin we are all here!
It's so good to finally start this journey. Preparations took few months of everyones time.
Was it worth it?
You'll find out at the end of the travel :)
But now, lets get to the story! :)
As we arrived on Friday morning, we had to wait until Tuesday for us to pick up the Bus from the Port Linden warehouses.
We used this time to explore New York. This city is really big! Really tall buildings all around Manhattan are making you feel very small.
There are few places that you need to see in this city.
One of them is Statue Of Liberty.
And other is Times Square by night!
After the weekend we managed to retrieve our lovely BUS with the help of Polish people living here
It took us almost whole day to organise ourselves inside. But in the end everything was looking good :)
All ready to go, we said goodbye to our host Wojtek - the best one we had ever and went for shopping to Walmart.
On our way back Peter said there is something wrong with the brakes.
After short examination we noticed breaking fluid leak on the rear right wheel.
We worked on it most of the night and in the morning started looking for parts to fix the problem. We needed small gasket that was torn apart - it was just too old. As this is USA, it's hard to get small parts like that. So in the end we decied to buy the whole calliper - expensive, but it was the only way to fix the breaks for now.
Again with the help of local Polish community we were able to find this rare part in a matter of few hours. Wojtek borrowed us his car and we went to the shop 30 miles away to buy it.
We are ready to go!!!
Our first bigger destination was Yellowstone National Park.
It took us of course some time to get there. But camping spots we had on the way were just awesome.
On our was we went through the Badlands National Park as well, where we saw Buffalos for the first time.
But in the Yellowstone at one point they were crossing the street just a few feet away from us!
It is really scary to be so close to such a big beast.
But it was so beautiful in here. All the animals, nature, colours...
I mean look at the photos:
And although it was middle of May in here temperatures were around 0-10 degrees Celcius and there was a snow!
But as we were planing to go to Alaska we were prepared for cold :)
Our camp by the Snake River was really nice as well. In the middle of the forrest almost on our own (just one more car around).
Anyone cares for a breakfast sandwich? Tuna with mayo - delicious!
After 2 days in Yellowstone we are moving towards Alaska through Canada.
But as soon as we start driving, there is something wrong with the brakes again... We managed to get to Lodge Cabins nearby (1mile) and notices that we don't have breaks again!
Out bus really wants to drive, without stopping ;)
Well... we had to call flatbed tow to help us get to the workshop.
Will we be able to get to Alaska? Will we fix our bus?
Stay tuned!
