Roatan, Honduras' Main Tourist Destination

in travel •  8 years ago  (edited)

Roatan along with the Mayan ruins of Copan are the most famous tourist attractions of Honduras. Roatan is an island about 40 miles from the mailand, it has great beaches, crystal clear water, world class diving, great hotels and very friendly people. Engish is spoken all over the island, it is a must go place if you are looking for a great vacation.

I really don't know where this is going.

Of course if you have seen the quality of the pictures I usually post you can see I didn't take these, my nephew was over there for a week and I asked him to take a few pictures for Steemit, the couple of underwater photos were taken by a tourist who was on a diving vacation and the aerial view of the hotel was taken by a drone.

I really hope you have enjoyed this pictures, who knows, maybe you decide to visit Roatan.

I'd love to come to Honduras! Looks amazing! :)

what's the cost of living there?
in fact..what's the cost of living in Honduras?

In Roatan it is quite expensive, on the mainland it is much cheaper but still it has increased very much after 1990, in the first decade of this century we had a lot of foreigners who were living here because their pensions went a lot further than back in their countries, But then violence began peaking and a lot of them left.

Ok, I just asked my niece she lives in West End on Roatan, she rents an apartment for about US230.00, pays about $60.00 for power, water and cable (don't know if this includes internet) and food is just a little more expensive than on the coast, so I guess with $1000.00 you would have money to spare. On the coast you would spend less.
