Saving money in Thailand: topic rental

Good and cheap rental website thailand.

If you want to save some money in Thailand from stay costs, living costs. You should look out for things like renting a dormitory or cheap rooms/apartments. People tend to book hotel rooms, use Airbnb. You can pay about one third of these prices, by renting smart. I think most people just want to go out in Thailand. You won't stay all day in your room are you? So why pay allot of money for a room where you hardly stay in.

Right now, the amount I'm paying a month is 3300 baht (€80). That comes with electricity costs and water. Although we use a fan here and not an air conditioner, we kinda keep it cheap. If you add an air conditioner, you would pay about 3000 baht (€75) more. These things suck electricity and money from your pockets. In the rainy seasons it's quite cool though, but during summer, in thailand that is February till about May. The heat will make you sweat bullets. Air conditioning would be a comfortable choice.

However, if you like hotel restaurants, swimming pools, more luxurious setting, room service and to relax on hotel grounds, this isn't for you. If you don't need all of the above. You like to travel around a lot and just have a bed for sleep and a place to keep your baggage and things, or you have a tight budget. Renting a dormitory or just a single room. Could keep you an extra buck left in your pocket, that you can spend on other things.

The only issue in finding a place to rent is... If you try to find it with your mouth, by speaking to Thai people/dorm owners. The language gap, can make it quite difficult.

The dorms are mostly packed with young Thai people. Young working-class or students, mainly a lot of students. Sometimes these students like to drink, smoke (even though smoking is forbidden in dorms it still happens), party late at night, race with their motorbikes, etc. A lot of noise at times, so if you're a bad sleeper, you might have a problem.

This doesn't account for all dorms though

I like how there's a lot of security at these dorms. They have a lot of security cameras and everything is closed by fencing. So small chance of someone breaking in, or causing trouble. But, so far nothing has been stolen from me in Thailand. The people are good and nice here, no complaints so far.
