Some Curiosities for "London Eye" !

It is certainly one of London's most specific findings, but did you know that "London Eye" was initially inaugurated as a temporary structure?

Here are some curious information about it.

Formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Tony Blair on 31 December 1999, but opened to the public in March 2000.

The "London Eye" took 7 years to build and was sketched out by various architects such as Mark Sparrowhawk, David Marks and Julia Barfield. It took more than 1,700 tons of British steel and more than 3,000 tons of cement for the bases.

There are 32 booths representing 32 London units and have numbers from 1-12 and from 14 to 33. Number 13 does not exist for superstitious reasons.

Illuminates in color to mark special occasions, for example, on the occasion of Prince William's and Keith Midellton's wedding lit with red, blue and white colors.

On June 2, 2013, a cabin was named "Crowning Cabin" to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's crowning.

The Olympic torch climbed to London Eye in 2012 in the hands of Amelia Hempleman-Adams, 17, the youngest skier in the South Pole.

More than 5,000 couples have been married since the inauguration.

It is the UK's most popular tourist resort that expects 3.5 million people every year.

Like the Eiffel Tower, "London Eye" was initially planned as a temporary facility, but in July 2002, the Lambeth Council granted a permanent license.

Celebrities like to visit the highest place in Europe. Supermodel Kate Moss keeps the record for 25-lapse Britons. Hollywood actress Jessica Alba keeps her for 31-lap foreigners.
