I used to get insanely angry at slow drivers, but now that I have an autistic teenage driver...I understand why some people drive so slow. Going over 55 terrifies him. I know how frustrated the people passing him must be, but I also know how frustrated he gets in those situations.
It has taken two years of him having his permit to get to the point where he could confidently pass his driver's test and it took two months of having his license before he was comfortable enough to drive to and from school. I'm so proud of him. I can't seem to tell him enough. I think he is tired of hearing it!
Please be considerate of other drivers. Learning to drive safely takes practice and that practice means driving...on the street...on the highway....in the parking lot. Consider how you would feel if that was your child out on the road alone for the first time. Imagine how reckless, unsafe driving makes others nervous.
Just...be considerate. That's all I ask.

Well said. I know many people raising autistic or Aspergers children or family members and they have the patience of a Saint.
I know I have seen people get upset with older drivers, who tend to drive slow also, and my heart goes out to the older drivers. Some people don't realize that seniors need to go out, they may be afraid to drive, but they have no one to rely on to get their food or medications.
Have patience everyone... you will still get to your destination. Be considerate!

Good rant. I am sometimes the driver that is going 5 miles per hour under the speed limit. I figure I would rather arrive alive than drive these roads at speeds that scare me. Love to all
