There's something special about crossing into another country; a feeling of both success and wonder. When you make that last spin you can't help but feel proud that you just crossed a whole country by bike, but you also wonder how the next country is going to be and what will happen?

I have by now crossed Germany, czech republic and finally Austria

But this crossing was really something different for me, this is the first country on my list I have never been in and also all of the upcoming countries will be unknown for me as well, even the way I had to cross was a cool experience. The borders met exactly on top of a mountain pass so the feeling of success was double the power when I both had to take the pass and finish off a country at the same time. IMG_20170602_122153.jpg

what a great way to finish off a country

What a beautiful climb it was, a road staying true to what I feel nature of Austria was all about; taking me through the forest, along the rivers, different monuments and sights of mountains.
I could not have asked for more.

Time to reap my reward I almost forgot I could claim, the down hill and then even with a perfect steepness(is that even a word?) just enough to make me go at fun and high speeds but not too fast that i had to break. IMG_20170602_140258.jpg
My first sight of Slovenia and the backcountry side, wonderful!

When I eventually reached the bottom I passed this beautiful green Lake

I stopped for an hour and ate some kiwi(how fitting in color) and eventually also fell a sleep, taking a quick nap. What a nice welcome to the beautiful country of Slovenia!

But the country was quick to also show me her rough side and a thunderstorm rolled in. I decided here to call it the day and found a nice cheap '' hostel'' for 18euro including breakfast! This is where I slept (taken from the next morning) :IMG_20170603_105012.jpg
IMG_20170603_104959.jpga welcoming change from my tent for a night! Would have been a perfect cabin for a couple but I would have to do with my own company! #singlelife

I have decided to take a minor detour on about 700km to bike into some of the most beautiful parts of Slovenia( or so I have heard)

Distance is a relative thing anyway, so why not see what Slovenia has to offer while I'm here?
Of course I'm gonna share it all here!
See you next time where we will find out if those 700km proves to be worth it or not!

Wow that's awesome man, must be difficult to climb those steep slopes with so much added weight to your bike, what kind of gearing do you have? I'm going to be cycling in Mallorca next week.

Thanks a lot! That sounds like a awesome country to bike in! Where are you going from and to? When you ask about gearing you mean my gear system on the bike and not '' my equipment I bring''? The gear system is a internal gear system called pinion, a bit expensive but really awesome:)

I'm just going to stay in one place in the North of the island and cycle each day from and then back to the hotel. It's supposed to be perfect for cyclists, nice smooth roads, incredible views and quiet roads... I just hope it isn't too hot! I mean which size chain rings and cassette are you using. If it was me and I was riding so far and with a lot of heavy bags on my bike I would need to make some changes to the bike to make it easier to get up those 8% mountains. But maybe you are a very strong rider! haha

Wow sounds really awesome man! How long will you be biking in the area for? Yeah I think both us will be dealing with the heat this summer then, haha:) i don't have the specs in my head right now sadly and I'm no expert, I'm in fact very new to the biking world. The steepest I have tried is 11% and that was just about the lowest gear I could hit and still be able to keep moving. And no Iam no strong biker at all, you would be amazed what chicken legs I had before I started the trip, hahah:)

I'm going to be there for one week, the cycling season is typically Feb-May but oh well, I was just too keen to get away and cycle somewhere new that I'm willing to try to put up with the heat. The part of England where I live in is very flat so I'm no king of the mountains either. Last summer I tried to ride up L'Angliru in Northern Spain on a friends bike, I'm embarrassed to say I got off and walked up some of the toughest sections (up to 23%!). I had only been cycling properly for a few months at the time so I'm looking forward to going back and conquering it (without walking) in the future.

23% is also really crazy, I have had a few really steep sections but I am not sure how steep they were, enough that I also had to drag a little off the bike:) but I think with time I got stronger as well! So maybe I got some hills I would have to get revenge on someday as well!

Great post

Thanks:)!

Great shots and nice post! Have fun on your tour!

Trying my best! Thanks a lot! :)
