Recently took a trip to Alaska's Kenai Peninsula and had an absolutely amazing time. If you have never been to Alaska, make plans to go. If you have been to Alaska... I'm sure you are thinking about going back. This place is indescribably beautiful, and the people are friendly, welcoming, and generous.
Here is a photo of a Brown Bear taken from a 16 foot aluminum skiff. I took this photo with my smart phone. We were literally right on top of this bear. This was on a guided tour and they do this all day long. The guide was a 20 something year old guy that didn't seem the least bit concerned with how close we were to this animal that could easily destroy the boat and kill us all. When I asked him what sort of protection he had for us all. He lifted a boat brush. Not very reassuring, but alas, I live to tell the tale.
