On her return to Earth on Saturday night, US astronaut Peggy Whitson will spend 665 days on three missions at the International Space Station.

In April, Whitson broke the record for the longest US time in space, surpassing Jeff Williams (543 days). President Donald Trump then called and congratulated her on the achievement.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Whitson said she did not feel time out on her third trip of more than nine months, noting that the longest week spent in space was last week for her continued thinking of returning to the planet.

The astronaut said that most of her life on the planet was "toilets and pizza", and that after the flight she would miss the enchanting view of the globe from the International Space Station, the freedom of buoyancy and space mobility, predicting that she would not get used to it in the early days After returning to earth on earth gravity.

She would also miss mixed feelings of satisfaction, gratitude and pride for her work with the NASA team in space.

"I'm going to miss work in this inspiring building," she said, "I can not imagine the level of precision that has inspired the design of a place like this, not to mention its construction."

She said she did not like to be praised for her record, saying it was important that it be broken by others so that space exploration could proceed.

After its next step, the space pioneer did not foresee the continuation of its work on space travel programs, since "its desire to contribute to space exploration has increased over the years."

Wisconsin-born Watson, who lives in Houston, Texas, in 2008, became the first woman to lead the International Space Station.
