Photos of La Citadelle fort, Haiti ( part 3)- UNESCO World Heritage Site

in travel •  7 years ago

It is also considered one of the biggest fortresses in the Western Hemisphere.

On a clear day, Cuba can be spotted from here. The vantage point is considerable.

The walls are on average 10 feet thick!

Designed for surviving a scorched earth policy. If the French were to attack, everything locally would be burned and all provisions kept at La Citadelle fort.

It is a long way down!

Still haven't seen anyone else.
