This beautifully crafted calabash is known as the "kwarya" and is one of the distinctive symbols of northern Nigeria.
The kwarya is simply the dried hollow shell of a gourd used for household utensils. Coming in various designs and colours,it should be amongst the top items to collect when touring the north. I especially like taking my fura de nunu using this gourd! There is a special feeling that comes with the unique combo walahi!
