What Makes You Happy?

Bright city lights, the dreaded morning alarm clock, fast cars and honking horns - all part of the daily routine that stops you from taking a moment to breathe and evaluate just what the hell you want to do in life. “Do” as in, not what you need to do to pay bills and put food in your fridge, but what you WANT to do, what will bring not just contentment, but actual happiness.

Travel is my weapon to combat this. It instantly strips away all distractions and floods my mind with clarity. Even if only momentarily, I’m able to pinpoint what I want out of life - then up to me to fight for it or not.

Travel may not be your weapon like it is mine, but I know you have something at your disposal - everyone does, you just have to look for it. Find your passion. Find that one thing that lets you break away from the robotic work trance many of us get wrapped up in. People tend to do things simply because it’s become a routine, not because it makes them happy. I’m guilty of this too, but that’s why I continue to travel. I need that shift in perception to put me on the right path again. For instance, a trip to China 2 years ago made me realize I needed change. It was the sole reason I abruptly packed my life into a suitcase and boarded a plane taking me over 7,400 miles away to a far away land.

My heart aches at the thought of waking up one day to realize years have gone by without me having done anything to accomplish my goals and dreams. So I urge you, find your passion and fight for it. Never stop chasing what makes you happy.

I'm glad you found something that let's you break the work trance. I think it is very important to always be conscious of what you really want.

Thanks! I spent a while being 9-5 zombie before realizing this is my main source of happiness.
