A protector of the páramos

in travel •  7 years ago

Visiting the páramos of the Andes, specifically Mérida, allows us to enjoy a clean and pure environment.

To identify when you are in an Andean wasteland you just have to visualize the soil and you will notice that it will have a color around gray thanks to our protector called: Frailejones.

These little ones have medicinal functions, for ointments, tea (for asthma or lung diseases). There are around 50 species, which bloom at different altitudes from 2,800 to 4,400 meters above sea level.
Despite its beauty its growth is very slow, it has been said that they grow one centimeter per year. These are protective since their function is to prevent erosion in the páramos, in addition to avoiding global warming.

That is why it is extremely important to take care of these wonderful friends
