Day 4
Nha Trang – Qui Nhon
214 km
..after two days of walking around the city, chilling on the beach and meeting heaps of new people while drinking free beer and eating most delicious homemade dinners at the dorms, I am ready to leave Nha Trang.. and I am not going on the next leg of my trip alone, I have found a great company – Daniel and Jay.. they are both super fun and easy to communicate to, so I think we will not have any problems riding together..
..the morning is hot and my darling bike does not want to start, after some persuasion and love, it finally agrees to cooperate and we are ready to go.. the road is going through green mountain slopes and you can notice how the climate is changing as the vast sand lands that I am so used to have turned into luscious green mountain slopes and rice paddies.. and then we get to the mountain pass.. and a traffic jam that consists mainly of truck with various cargo, including live pigs, bricks, and who knows what else.. anyhow, the only way to pass it all is driving on the side lane, that is approximately 1 m wide in the best case, in some spots you are hardly passing between the side barrier and the puffing trucks.. but also this challenge has been completed with flying colours.. proud of myself..
..after first 100 km, we stop on Môn Beach, mesmerizing view, refreshing water and great company.. we plan to stop for an hour, but it is so good that the time just flies by and instead of one, we end up spending two hours at the spot.. which sets us a bit back but we still hope to manage to get to the hostel by dark, which I might remind you is 6 pm..
..around 4 pm, we are passing through the most amazing landscape of terraced green mountains, heavy white clouds and sun splashing its rays all over this, I wish I could share it with you, but unfortunately this view is only a memory in my head..
..the sun is quickly setting and we still haven’t reached our destination, Jay is leading the way and it seems like forever, its already pitch black and the promised 20 min till Big Tree Backpackers mysteriously turn into 40.. google maps.. cannot always trust it.. but nevertheless, the goal has been reached, and I treat myself with some cheap beer and a super expensive dinner, pizza with caramelized onions, and plenty of cheese to make me absolutely ecstatic.. one of the best meals in the last 6 months here..
..this time I am shearing a room with 5 guys, not bad but unfortunately all I can think about is bed and well-deserved sleep.. pathetic.. anyhow, buona note, ragazzi!!
