Hello steemians,
One summer day , I had the chance to share a memorable experience with my son Yahya exploring the Îles-des-Moulins and Vieux-Terrebonne, this emblematic site of Quebec heritage located on the Mille-Îles River offered us a perfect blend of history, art and nature, from the discovery of its historic mills to the outdoor artistic installations, including a tasty ice cream and a classic car show, our day was a real adventure.

We arrived in Terrebonne in the late afternoon, enjoying the mild summer climate and from our first steps, we were greeted by an enchanting setting, a green park, modern facilities and a magnificent sunset on the horizon, Yahya, curious and full of energy, was eager to explore every corner of this fascinating place. Our first stop immersed us in an artistic and interactive world where we discovered an installation made up of colored panels and mirrors creating a unique visual effect that intrigued adults and children alike, the past of Terrebonne where art and history met harmoniously in this place.

Continuing our walk, we crossed a charming wooden bridge leading to the municipal library, located in a building with fascinating architecture, a mix of ancient stone and modern structures, this library is a real treasure for lovers of reading and heritage, we did not take the time to enter, but its inspiring atmosphere deserved a contemplative pause. Continuing our exploration, we reached the Îles-des-Moulins dam where the spectacle of the powerful waters flowing through the turbines offered a captivating contrast with the tranquility of the rest of the site. Yahya, fascinated, observed the swirling currents and asked himself a thousand questions about the functioning of the dam, it was a perfect opportunity to talk about hydraulic energy and the importance of rivers in the development of the region.

This peaceful moment will remain engraved in my memory as a moment of pure happiness shared with my son. Before leaving the river, we walked on a rocky area at the water's edge, Yahya, wearing his sneakers, ventured cautiously on the slippery stones, we observed the water birds and discussed the local fauna, this place was ideal for a nature break away from the noise of the city.

As night fell, we discovered a magnificent view of the Terrebonne mill, lit by colorful lights, the nighttime atmosphere added an additional charm to the place, this historic building, once an economic engine of the region today bears witness to the rich past of Terrebonne. Crossing the park, we came across a most surprising artistic installation, a huge structure made of red and pink ribbons hanging from the branches of a tree, Yahya immediately rushed inside, disappearing into this colorful forest before reappearing laughing, this interactive work added a touch of magic to our evening.

After all these discoveries, it was time to enjoy a sweet treat, we stopped at a local creamery where Yahya enjoyed a huge ice cream dipped in chocolate, his smile spoke volumes about his pleasure, and I savored this moment when the simplicity of a cone could create an unforgettable memory. Our last surprise of the evening was a classic car exhibition in downtown Vieux-Terrebonne where among the models on display, a superb midnight blue racing car with the number 42 particularly attracted our attention, the purring of the engines, the enthusiasts discussing their mechanical jewels, the festive atmosphere and the colorful lights magnificently concluded our day.
