The name Zagora comes from Berber Tazagourt, whose plural, Tizougar, refers to the two neighboring peaks called in Arabic djebelaïn.
From this rocky peak, we have a beautiful view of the Draa Valley.

The Oasis of Zagora was the starting point of the Almoravids, who then conquered sijilmassa (next to Rissani), then the Sous, to finally found their capital in Marrakech. This is also where the Saadians left in the sixteenth century. It has always been a caravan center, the starting point for major trans-Saharan convoys.

Like other cities in the South, the modern city was founded by the French, at the time of the protectorate. It is a large administrative town, calm and pleasant, whose main attraction is to be "at the end of the road" and allow a first approach of the desert. This is the end of the Draa Valley.
