Hi Steemians! A Short Interview of a Pakistani girl Who Climbed to the highest Mountains of Pakistan on her 30th Birthday.
It was really a Pride moment for Pakistan where women have the ability to make World Records.
ISLAMABAD: From a Recent News report I have come to know a Pakistani Girl who Climbed to Highest Mountains of Baaushal Peak, which stands at 5,720 meters approximately.
She explained her travel experience in short Story which has been converted by me.
She Said, "I've always liked mountains from afar, but I never thought that one day I'd be ready to climb a real mountain. I have never been a fan of mountaineering, nor have I had previous experience of mountaineering or technical trekking. However, when my thirtieth birthday came up, my adventurer-Self decided to be part of an expedition to climb the Pico Baaushal, which is located 5,720 meters approximately.
Holding my 30th on a mountaintop in the majestic Karakoram range of Pakistan seemed like a good idea at the time.
It's also interesting how I became part of this group of brave women, to begin with. A group of seven women who had attended climbing schools previously, with some previous technical experiences of trekking also, welcomed me wholeheartedly in their expedition group. Our organizers informed me that there were some women, some 25 years or so, who were interested in joining us, but later withdrew.
Our trip to Hushe Valley, from where we had to leave for our expedition, was a long one.
On the other hand, it is in this small valley of Hushe, a world of its own without any sign of telephone or Internet, that one savours the natural beauty that offers the world more. I can never forget the sightings of the moon at night, being surrounded by the highest mountains and waking up to the sight of the Mashabrum peak.
It was there that we did some basic climbing training with ropes, and we learned about all the equipment that we would be using. Walking with crampons on a glacier was definitely not easy for me, while the rappel was something new too, and I had to learn to ascend and descend, with the rope becoming my lifeline.
Climbing a mountain is definitely difficult, and requires a lot of patience and willpower. I remember losing my patience sometimes and wanting to leave it, especially after an incident when the lower half of my body was stuck in the sand, with a deep ditch on the other side. I was lucky a janitor managed to get me up.
Being in the mountains, becoming a witness to the view of the majestic K7, Gondogoro, Mashabrum and other magnificent peaks, was certainly an unforgettable experience. Seeing the beauty that Pakistan has to offer, and the amazing valleys with a backdrop of the higher mountains, made me proud to be a Pakistani.
The famous K2 climber, Hassan Jan, who was our mentor and organizer, told us that no woman has ever climbed K2 before. Not only is it very difficult, obviously, but it also seemed to suggest that K2 is not friendly with women. Even Baig tried to scale the K2 twice, but still not successful. I hope that even if that Baig proves it wrong one day.
In the history of the world women always have had worked hard to prove that a woman can do anything.
Being part of Pakistan's first female expedition has been nothing less than breathtakingly inspiring to me, and for all the amazing women out there, more power for you!
