More than 20 years we just passed Pforzheim (a german town in southern Germany) on or way from Munich respectively to Munich without visiting UNESCO-World Cultural Heritage “Kloster Maulbronn”. This year, we decided to visit the Maulbronn Monastery Complex, instead of waisting time in the traffic-jam on Autobahn A8. When you exit Pforzheim-Nord you have to drive less than 20 Minutes to arrive in Maulbronn.
Maulbronn Monastery is known as one the most complete and bestpreserved Medieval monastery complexes of Europe. It combines a multitude of architectural styles, from Romanesque to late Gothic, in one place. Moreover you can visit two very good restaurants “Klosterkatz” und “Klosterschmiede”, where you can stay overnight.
Enclosed you will find ten reasons (fotos) to stop in Maulbronn:

Great pictures! That place looks amazing. We visited Germany a few years ago and went to Rothenburg and it was our favorite place there. I didn't think I would like Germany, but it was my favorite of all the countries we went to in Europe on our trip and I don't even speak German! That looks like the kind of place we would love to visit someday. Thanks for sharing.
