A trip to Washington, DC... to fish?

Until the Clean Water Act of 1972, the Potomac River was rendered unfishable due to algal blooms, sewage, and runoff. President Lincoln was said to have gone to the highlands on summer nights to escape the stench of the river. Luckily, by the end of the 20th-century sewage treatment plants and conservation helped the river bounce back.

Today the Potomac River is one of the nation's most interesting fisheries! Let me show you why...
