Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe

Lake Kariba

The Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe is an awesome man-made lake. In fact, it is the world’s largest man-made lake and reservoir when you base it on volume.

Residents and developers filled the lake after the construction of the Kariba Dam in 1958. It is 223 kilometers long and 40 kilometers wide. There are many tigerfishes here as well as fish eagles and cormorants. If you stroll along the banks of the lake, you can see hippopotamus and Nile crocodiles, too. It is one of the places to visit in Zimbabwe.
