Artigas Mausoleum


The Artigas Mausoleum is a catacomb in memory of one of Uruguay's saints named Jose Artigas. His body was let go underneath the statue in this tomb and it is being ensured by watches called the "Blandegues de Artigas".


Jose Artigas is the nation's national saint and he is frequently named as the "Father of Uruguayan Nationhood". He has been the peacemaker between the two gatherings battling in Uruguay amid their opportunity.


All around the nation, one will see distinctive "Artigas" landmarks.
