Nomading with Nessie #1 - Canggu, Bali: from drowning scooters to hipsterheaven.

Hello Friends!
In order to create a bit more order in that messy feed of mine, i´ll now attempt a series. Welcome to the first installment and enjoy. Also, feedback will be very, very highly appreciated.

Please follow me to...
Canggu, Bali!

Oh, what a hipster dream i have found myself in there. Somehow i landed straight from that beautiful, hippie-ish island of Maui in Hipsterhaven Canggu. I was instantly reminded of one of my favourite areas in my Berlin, Kreuzberg - just warmer and with waves.

Vegan cafés, beards and health food stores as far as your eye goes... Until it stops at the crowds of surfers fighting for a wave. Oh, jeez - why exactly did i come here?

Oh, because of this:

Or maybe because of this?

Whoever knows me knows that puppydogs always get me excited. Like, very excited. I may have about a million pictures of cute dogs in Bali, and once even had one hitchhiking with me on my scooter - but that´s a story for another time.

It took a while until i liked Canggu, but it did grow on me. All these cafés... If you are a health food loving, yoga loving digital nomad and surfer, you have found paradise.
They also seem to hold an internal, secret championship about the most impressive latte art and food color arrangements (my winner was definitely the pokemon):

(left to right: Shady Shack, Satu Satu, Shady Shack, Ruko Café)

I slowly fell in love with the candy colors there, and the most beautiful yogastudio.

But my favourite part were the little adventures that daily life in Bali brings about.. Such as flooded "streets" (which weren´t even streets, but the shortest way to our house), and required you to drive through knee-deep mud and trash with your legs held up high, or searching for your scooter after a particularly heavy rainfall - and this was supposedly during dry season!

Excuse the image quality, but it was raining and i needed to get going - but really had to take shots of those situations. And nope, this was not super extraordinary, more likely quite the daily business. So bring a raincoat when you go to Bali, and don´t forget to grow some balls for the scooterdrives!

It is well worth it - you´ll be rewarded with loads of new impressions, an entirely new culture and the most beautiful sunsets.

If you have any favourite spots about Bali, please let me know, i´m happy to check them out!
