The interior of the traditional Russian peasant house

The most important element of this home is the Russian oven. The stove warmed the whole house.In the oven, people also cooked food.

The second important thing in the house is the dining table.Located in the so-called "red" corner of the room. The word "red" in ancient Russian language means not only color, but also beautiful, major. In the corner above the table, almost below the ceiling traditionally was the icon. On the table usually stood a samovar, ancestor of the modern boiler for tea.

In the peasant house was a place for children. It is for example a cradle for babies.

There is no modern water supply system in old houses. People used water wells. The one in the photo is artificial for security reasons.
