My Summer In Jamaica

in travel •  7 years ago

Greetings Steemians!
Last summer I was fortunate enough to spend the whole summer in Jamaica. I had visited the island a few before but never had the luxury of staying this length of time. My reason for taking the trip were as follows :

  • Visit some long time friends I hadn't seen in years
  • I was long overdue for a break from the Atlanta city life and needed to recharge
  • Pick up on some agriculture principles
  • Look into pursuing some cannabis ventures being that it was recently legalized

Most of my time I was in the parishes (cities) of Mandeville and Kingston though I did my fair share of bouncing around the island to sight-see. I only did a week at an all-inclusive hotel. I actually rented a guest house in Mandeville for 6 weeks at a great rate and the rest of my time I spent staying with close friends.

My long stay was definitely life changing. I was really able to bask in a completely different lifestyle and at the same time rejuvenate myself so when I returned to the hustle & bustle of the city life I was ready to hit the ground running and it definitely paid off for me. I've made more progress personally since then than I have in the past five years.

I was planning to take another trip this fall but I recently discovered my first child is due in the winter so that trip definitely got postponed lol. In March of next year me and my queen are planning a trip to Jamaica or Panama so I guess my itch to travel won't be scratched until then. Either way I plan on sharing with you guys. Let me know if you have any suggestions or experience when it comes to visiting these two destinations.
