Traveling To Niigata

I'm headed up to Niigata city to hang out with @boxcarblue and some other steemians. Crypto has been very good to me this year so I thought I'd spend a little in Japan. Since I've never been to Niigata and I wanted to meet up with some steemians there it sounded like a good destination. They've also got this cool project called @steemcityniigata that I want to learn more about.

So here I am sitting on the shinkansen writing this. It will take approximately 2 hours from Tokyo station to Niigata station. It's such a pleasure to go by train rather than plane. It's roomier, quieter, smoother. You can actually walk around and go to the bathroom without worrying that you might become a ceiling decoration. If you have the chance to visit Japan you definitely should grab a rail pass and take the shinkansen somewhere. It's part of the beauty of Japan.

Before I left I wanted to grab some lunch so I ducked outside of Tokyo station to look for something to eat. Keep in mind there are more restaurants per capita in Tokyo than any other city in the world, so finding something to eat isn't hard. The challenge is deciding what to eat!

I stumbled upon some food trucks set up at the south end of the station at the Tokyo Interational Forum. They all looked edible, but as I was moving down the line I saw Shake Shack. I was definitely in the mood for some comfort food and since I've never been there I thought I'd give it a try.

I'd have to say I made the right choice. The hamburger was really good. The way I remember burgers tasting when I was a kid. The real delight though was the "black sesame" shake! I love black sesame and when I saw they have a shake I was stoked. The travel gods were watching over me.

It's hard to describe a black sesame shake. Maybe it's got a nutty flavor to it and damn it's good. You will also find black sesame ice cream in Japan. I first had it many years ago inside of a cream puff. It was an amazing new flavor and since that first taste I've always loved it.

That's it for now. Gonna have a rest before getting to Niigata. We're gonna light up the place this weekend so check back here, over at @bxcarblue 's blog or maybe even @steemcitynigata 's blog.

Looking forward to it. Sun's out this morning, gonna be a good day/night!

Ok, spoke too soon, snowing now!

have a good travel!

That burger looked.... American! :D

Believe it or not, it tasted American too! Seriously, many chain Japanese burgers don't use to 100% beef, they mix pork in and they tastes like shit. These chains coming in are changing that.

Have fun^_^

@rt395 Bringing back vivid memories of my trip to Japan this past summer... man how I want to go back... Definitely my favorite country that I have been to so far. Great post, thanks so much for sharing this!

You're always welcome back! With so many Steemians popping up around here you'll have a network of support too.

Ya, it's a wondrous place. So familiar, yet so foreign even after living here for so long.

Yes sir, I absolutely will be back and whenever I do I will be sure to reach out to some of my fellow steemians! I hope to one day settle down in Japan because it sure does beat where I am living... Much respect @rt395
