City of a thousand caves, that's the nickname of the city for pacitan. Gong Pacitan Cave in East Java is one of the popular tourist attractions in Pacitan and holds the title as the most beautiful cave tour of Southeast Asia. The charm of Gong Pacitan Cave is sourced from a beautiful panorama of stalactites and stalagmites that you can encounter when going through the cave for approximately 2 hours.
Here's a map to go to the location of the cave
Gong cave is contained in the earth's belly of Gong-gongan mountain located in Pule Hamlet, Bromo Village, Punung District, Pacitan Regency. From downtown Pacitan is approximately 37 km to the west. Named Goa Gong because there is a stalactite that hangs on the roof of the cave when hit will cause a resounding sound like a gong sound, one of the Javanese gamelan music instruments. The distinctiveness of Gong Cave is to wake up its gigantic changing room around 100 m long, 15-40 m wide and 20-30 m high. The mouth of the cave is a short hall full of stalactites and stalagmites connecting with the domed cave room. In addition to storing the scenery in a cave that is so exotic, gong cave also keeps the uniqueness on one of the stalactites that hang on the roof of the cave when hit will produce a sound similar to the sound of gongs is one of Javanese gamelan musical instruments so this cave was named as cave gong. Visitors who enter into the cave can see the contents of the cave that has a length of 256 meters, but when in the cave must be careful because the road is quite slippery due to water droplets that fall from the walls of the cave.
Speleotem or ornaments in the cave decorate all over the room. The shape of stalactites are also varied, some are tapered, some are thin widened like a stone curtain.Sebagian stalactite surface overgrown with heliktit. Helectite, helictite, a cave ornament (speleothem) has a curved or crowned shape and has a visibly opposing gravity during its growth process.
From the bottom, there are many stalagmites whose surface is layered flowstone, so that looks like a pile ornament. These ornaments partially resemble something, and each collection of these ornaments are given interesting local names such as Selo (stone) Jengger Bumi, Selo Paku Buwono, Selo Bantaran Angin, Selo Gerbang, Selo Citro Cipto Agung, Selo Adi Citro Buwono and so on.
and that's some beauty gong cave that is in pacitan city (indonesia).
Thank you...!!!
Travel blogposts are so much fun. This was a nice post and the very first photograph looked like a painting to me at first. It took me a few moments to realize it was a photograph. Good job!

I didn't know there's a place like this in Indonesia. It reminds me of Aranui Caves in New Zealand. It's such a beauty! I hope you really preserve this in your country - it's a gem made by nature.
