A Little Trip to Machu PicchusteemCreated with Sketch.

Good day, Steemians!

My friends @herbic and @sovereignsam are blasting FB with their real-time trip to Peru, and it has me all nostalgic for my journeys to Machu Picchu.

Would you like to take a walk down memory lane with me?

During the year I lived in Peru, I was blessed to visit Machu Picchu with my friends not once, but twice! 😍

That's me & the Brazilians in the lower right!

And me and the white ladies/Brazilians! On this trip, we saw a 360 degree rainbow around the sun at high noon 🌈

We drove from Cusco to Santa Maria, where we enjoyed the hot springs and the random man who volunteered to take photos of us while we were in them.

From Santa Maria, we took a combi to the hydroelectric dam outside of Santa Teresa, then we hiked along the railroad tracks next to the Urubamba River. This is a super cheap and super fun way to get to Machu Picchu, y'all!

The Incan citadel sits up in the Andes Mountains, just yonder round that one in the upper left. It's a primo locale that looks out over the entire valley.

There are avocado trees, exotic jungle plants, and beautiful flowers along the way.

We hiked to and spent the night in Aguas Calientes, and woke early to take a bus up to Machu Picchu to see the sunrise!

We saw some llamas

and played on the terraces--some of which are hollow, btw. Maybe there are underground rooms?!

Machu Picchu is actually a really huge, spread out complex--there's a lot more to it than the area people recognize from classic photos.

This is near the section called the Inca Bridge.

and this is a photo of the Sun Temple I took from pixabay, since I didn't take any pics there myself.

We did yoga and poi and hula hooped

and contemplated existence.

Nobody really knows why or how this complex was built, but we had a great time considering it!

Super shout out to my Oklahomie Matt @ Tranquil Waters Pool Care!

My point in sharing this post is to

1) Inspire some majestic feels.

2) Preserve memories on the blockchain. Fucking FB is deleting some of my photos, and I don't have access to a few of my memory cards anymore either. But my heart will live on and on here on our beloved Steemit--viva la blockchain!!

AND

3) Recommend Machu Picchu to one and all! It's an incredible, powerful place that pictures barely capture. Additionally, there are even older and way less visited ruins throughout Peru, and you can actually run around and play on stuff at those ones!! If serious adventure is your jam, I suggest checking them out too.

Kuelap, in the north, was thought to be a fortress of the Chachapoyas peeps, and it's in a romantic sounding environment called a "cloud forest".

..and there are literally HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS more throughout the country!!

¡¡¡Viva el Perú!!!

I hope you're inspired to go out and explore!
What's the most amazing place you've seen??

Oh yeah!!!! I feel that, @fproductions!

Very nice post and great images, particularly the yoga ones! The close-ups of the structures are fascinating. Ancient architecture is really incredible!

Thanks, @fotosdenada! I love architecture, and ruins are especially interesting to me. How did the ancients do it?? And why????

what a beautifull place !

Totally majestic!

Nice place and view @saramiller

Yep, it's super cool @crisgojar!

Round 2

I'm way overdue to make my sojourn there.

I hope you will go one day, @snake73! I will happily put you in touch with my people down there.

Seems like it was a really great trip. I love to see the machu picchu one day. I heard so many great stories about it and it looks just breath-taking!

I hope you get to go one day, @jerrev! Photos really don't do it justice. It's huge and glorious and awe-inspiring, so open and green and amazing...yes, I do hope you get to see it yourself!

That is amazing. One of my bucket lists is to do yoga at Machu Picchu. Try to channel some otherworldly vibes.
Upvoted & Followed!

Oh man, the otherworldly vibes are abundant in that vortex! I hope you get to see it soon, @bek!

I would love to travel with you one day @saramiller ! I bet your a total flow master out there in the matrix!

OMG my brother that would be so much fun!!! The Adventures of Sara & Apollo, a Steemit exclusive...I fancy myself a professional adventuress with master travel skillz, and I've only gotten better at flowing during me time at the GOE. And you're very handsome, so that story would practically upvote itself! 😂

Right! So much fun! Super exclusive! Yes! Of course you have molded your flowing abilities at the @gardenifeden . That oasis is the training grounds for evolving. Hahaha awh gee , your sweet @saramiller . Your the badass with the upvotes though. I'm a wee little baby when it comes to the upvotes.

Yeah mon, I put a lot of time and energy and focus and dedication into Steemit, because it's super revolutionary and exciting and honorable! It's awesome to spread the light, and realistically it's way, way satisfying that it's actually being valued ✨

You sure are getting what you put in! Yes! I completely agree. The world(including me) needs to get their priorities straight with social media.

Love ur post and really amazing pics :0) really makes me want to go there someday. Thx for sharing. Followed and upvoted

Thank you so much, @saffisara!

Ur welcome :0)

Wait.... is that my crazy fire spinning friend Lynn???? Looks like! Machu Picchu is the one place I've really wanted to travel to. Came here to gawk and now I'm surprised. She deactivated her FB :( "Hi, Lynn!" * waves into ether *

OMG IT IS LYNN!!!!! How do you know Lynn?!?!?!?! That's so so funny, what a small world!!

Exactly what I thought!! I met her through the "Fire Friday" community in Vancouver, Wa. Also the Beloved festival, I go every year, it's my all-time favorite. HIGHLY recommend <3 Lots of yoga, and you'll possibly have 2 friends there : )

This is really amazing to me!!! What are the odds??? Yet ANOTHER reason why Steemit is awesome!!

I really like peru, and someday when I'm a lot of money I definitely spend some time there, and surely I need a lot of information about peru, will you help me tell where the fun places are?

Sure @nauval, I know lots of good spots. I know lots of free spots too; traveling is not as expensive as you might think...

Iam very happy to hear it, and it seems I can not wait there

I am very happy to hear it .. and I definitely take the time to get there, and meet you, Thank You Very Much @saramiller

Those Llamas didn't look fazed at all with you being there. Very cool.

I don't think I was the first gringa to approach them. :)

That's probably very true haha :)

Nice

Thanks for sharing how nice it is peru, I would like to be there someday
