Good News!!!
I got laid off this week so we decided what better time to take a winter break and go to Puerto Rico... We're leaving Wednesday!!!
We have a couple of friends who came to New York City before hurricane Irma ravaged the islands. They came for a short vacation some time before the storm. It turned out to be a three-month stay! They got stuck here in a big city that is not their home.
Thankfully they have a lot of friends here... They were able to find an apartment with a couch here and there to sleep on with a little one who is almost 4 years old!
We have everything pretty much sorted out. A couple places in San Juan with friends, some who still don't have electricity! Then we will head west to some friend's parent's home and then we have a connection for a boat to take us to awesome places for the price of booze and gasolina! Again we will be really hanging out with the locals!!! Get the real Puerto Rican experience you know.
We can help a little by spending money in Puerto Rico, especially when we get hooked up with all the accommodations, we will have more to spend on local businesses and so on.
I am also excited to go help on an organic farm/homestead. They got hit pretty bad by the storm and we come at a time when they really need help cleaning up and rebuilding for an upcoming Condor Ceremony! This is a farm that hosts a lot of healing ceremonies from both north and south america. It has become quite a sacred space and we're very happy to help bringing it backup to life.
Once we've landed I don't know how much I will be posting on Steemit, I will be in travel mode and this will be the first time I go on a trip since I got on the blockchain...I might forget all about electronics!!!
I hope to have some amazing stories to share with you when we get back....

You sound like you are a lot more adventurous then me. I don't know if Porto Rico would be top of my list after the recent hurricane(s). I bet you will see some pretty crazy remnants of the devastation and I commend you for helping out with some of the rebuild as well.

Thank you so much for that. We asked our friends what to bring, something they need maybe something people miss that would be small enough for a suit case... all we got was one friend wanted cloths for her little one!

Great post title! You should bung up a few family photos of yr travels and do the BW challenge for a week - you might earn more on here than you did last week- people tend to like that sort of thing!

Hm, "Condor Ceremony" sounds like my kinda adventure. ;) Fun idea to move to Puerto Rico, jeesh! Can barely believe you're actually going to there, after the hurricane, which brings me a lot of hope about that island. It holds a special place in my heart. Trusting you and your family will be safe, strong, happy, and live well. And please keep us posted.

I wish I had no attachments sometimes but I do in New York State (building a multi-family homestead with anarchist tendencies with a makerspace just minutes to woodstock and my blood family).
