Strange Out of Place Thing I Found in the Forest

in travel •  7 years ago

I walked off the paved path into the brush to take a leak and stumbled upon some disturbing object left behind.

It was a few weeks ago when I was in Vancouver Canada on My Cross Canada 150th Birthday Tour, biking around Stanley Park. T'was a beautiful day, sun shining and warm with a cool breeze coming off the pacific ocean.

After a couple hours of stop and go photo ops I found the perfect spot to take a rest and wander into the woods for a pee. It wasn't really a trail I followed but more like a slightly beaten path deer might use if it wasn't downtown Vancouver. (Though I've heard wolves and deer do live here.)

After about 10 steps I was out of view from the popular bike trail and into the woods. Here without even trying to hide is this huge bag labelled BIOHAZARD touting its contents as used condoms and syringes. GROSS

I obviously kept my distance. What the heck is it doing here. It is big enough to hide a body I thought to myself. Who would leave such a bag here. I remembered Vancouver has "safe injection sites" and wondered why this still was here.

Just Creepy

You know, when wander I off into the forest this is the last damn thing I expected see, City or Countryside.

Aside from that; the bike path around and through Stanley Park was by far one of the most enjoyable bike rides I've done. Its quite flat and smoothly paved all around. And its mostly one way so less traffic.

What crazy out of place things have you found in the wilderness?

At least they were properly packaged up. Lol I've found lots of old bottles (early 20th century glass ones) on the farm I grew up on as a kid. Kind of cool to see how big and heavy they were and how long they've lasted. Sure don't make them like that anymore.

Yea those old Bottles were heavy, strong too so they could handle the bumpy ride to where ever they were going.

And they look great on the shelf as a candle holder.

i don't think i ever find anything creepy in any forest... no... can't remember...

great nice post

wow...beautiful pictures..
upvoted...!!!

haha so weird. why didn't they just throw it out

This is so weird:) creepy as well.
Usually if it's biohazard it's on the red plastic.
But indicating what's in there is kinda weird.
Weird things happen all the time lols

That is really strange and kinda gross. I wouldn't want a kid to discover it not understanding what it is for. I'd never heard of "safe injection sites" before. I had to look it up. Very interesting concept but sounds controversial too. Other than that it looks like a really pretty place to take a walk.

that is crazy, well it doesn't surprise me because of the location!! Stanley park is beautiful though!!
