We just got to San Antonio today, more pictures will follow of The Alamo, but for now...

"You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas" - David Crockett

I can't wait to check out the grounds of this famous little fort/mission...

And just for fun, here's old Olga the Brittannia and the only pocket knife I brought along for this trip...

I'm going to try and get to a coin shop or something as we journey through Texas, but for now my pocket piece is all I have to offer in support of #steemsilvergold!

Nice description in the feed..LOL...."but for now, you may all go to hell"...love it. You just kinda have to click on the post, when you read that.

Nice knife @stnwllstrtgc!

Hahaha, I was hoping that would catch a few second looks!

Thanks! It's one of my all-time favorites, Strider SnG...

Oh I know it's a Strider lol. You didn't hear me say nice Brittainia haha. That knife will set you back a full roll of Brittania's.

🤣 my bad for assuming you didn't know,
Yea they're not cheap, but I try and adhere to the buy once cry once philosophy when it comes to gear... Although there are many many high quality knives that don't cost even half as much as a Strider and still cut just as good if not better, guess it's an aesthetics thing for me, haha

I like them. I'm also all for good quality, whether it is new or old. I buy lots of older items (knives, fishing tackle, tools) because frankly they just don't make a comparable version nowadays. To buy a handmade carbon steel pocket knife as good as the early Case XX, Winchester, or Cattaraugus knives....you will be on a 6 month handmade waiting list and prices START at $500. Why not buy a high grade of the original, just one time, and pass it down when you're done with it?

Walmart and other retailers just do not sell items that will last. They dont exist, at any price. That is not the current goal. Buy local, and buy higher quality used items, it's money in the bank and the best savings plan in town! Good hedge against inflation, since that tool or item will last you 20 years or more!

I hope to be able to pass many of the knives and tools and such I gather onto my children and/or grandchildren.
So many things (mostly available at Walmart and similar like you said) are designed to fail so you have to buy another in 1 month, 1 year, or whenever. Throw in a lack of desire to fix broken things and the consumer culture is at its height!

Welcome to my home town of San Antonio. If you need any recommendations just give me a shout out. Enjoy our city. Merry Christmas 🎄 @steem-untalented

Beautiful pic of The Alamo oh and of course nice pocket silver!

Thanks! I'll try and get some picks of it in the Alamo tomorrow!

Nice. I want to go to Texas some day. And I always like to find coin stores where I go cause you can find things you don't find at home!

It's quite a state! My family and I are enjoying our visit here... We'll see how long that lasts once we make it to my in-laws though 🤣

Very nice photograph of tha Alamo. I was just there during Thanksgiving, my cousin lives in San Antonio. As a currently a displaced Texan living in Florida, don’t think I’ll ever stop missing the Great State of Texas!

My wife is from Houston, but I have only been to TX a couple times, making up for that with this trip and loving it!

@stnwllstrtgc A Little History of the ALAMO......

On 6 March 1836, at the Battle of the Alamo, Santa Anna's forces killed 189 Texan defenders and later executed more than 342 Texan prisoners, including James Fannin at the Goliad Massacre (27 March 1836). These executions were conducted in a manner similar to the executions he witnessed of Mexican rebels in the 1810s as a young soldier.
