Hi steemers
I am very happy to be on this platform where i can finally start sharing images having an idea that i will get some value if people like it. Here are some amazing landscapes from India , where i was lucky to visit . Lonar is about 500kms from Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra. Its one of those places where one can really feel entering the underworld . 52000 year ago it was hit by a meteorite (in earth time scale thats not so far back in time , human at that time were mostly likely hunter gatherers living in caves
Its the only known hypervelocity impact crater in Basaltic rock in the world and its National geoheritage monument with a Soda Lake. Now what does that mean ? when you are in the water it has funny soapy feeling. Its extremely regenerating to take a bath here. The descent to the crater is about 150 Metres and the there are three layers of trees , changing from tropical to desert like as you get near the lake.
The site has been known from millenias and many ancient temples dot the area , some totally unoccupied making excellent place to meditate . The place is teeming with amazing flora and fauna . Langurs give you good company. Eagles circle on top of your head . There is an excellent affordable Government Guest house to stay in close to the crater. I took a guide so as to help traverse around the crater.[IMG_3663.JPG()
Its about a 5 km walk and there are parts which are thick jungle, its better to have a guide the first time, then afterward one can trek around alone.
Attention Snakes and Giant centipedes , There are lots of medicinal plants . Its a bird watchers paradise , i saw a flock of my favourite Ibis ![IMG_3707.JPG](
Impact Rocks can be seen as well , remanants of the giant explosion
This one looks like the scene of Nausica Valley of the winds
Temples dot the lake notice the changing treeline in this image
Will be continued ..
This is an ecosensitive zone , when you travel here please dont litter and educate people to conserve this place , support the locals to make this into ecoreserve , thanks
