Travel With Susanne - My First Time Ever in Canada - AKA Lobster Heaven + Getting Lost

in travel •  8 years ago  (edited)

I really wanted to see Canada while I'm in the US for one month. So I just decided to go visit Canada too!
Who needs planning or directions? And who needs any other food other than lobster rolls?

I'm currently visiting my second cousin @trinaskylar in Maine. I've always wanted to go to Canada, so I suggested that we'd do a road trip up there. She is adventurous and fun, so of course she said "why not?".

After crossing the border from the US our cellphone data stopped working. So we just decided to drive to first place we thought looked interesting. After a failed attempt of following the signs to a lighthouse and getting completely lost, we ended up in Saint Andrews. We went to a couple of small towns, but Saint Andrews was my favorite.
It was a small coastal town, with tons of charming small shops and stunning view of the ocean.

At one point we had no clue where in country we were, but we didn't care. It was just such a nice feeling to drive around exploring places, with no signal and no clue what the place was called.

The nature in Canada is incredibly gorgeous. Lakes, the ocean, rivers and forrests. It reminded me a lot of Norway.

We went to this pub, The Red Herring, where I had the first lobster roll of my life. Oh my! The lobster was so fresh, I could taste the ocean! And as a Norwegian, I'm used to very fresh seafood! I can even catch my own lobster at our summer house in the fjord! But this was delicious and it's definitely the way to eat lobster!

Lobstermania!

I wish I could've seen more of this awesome country. I will definitely go back there for skiing one day!

Next stop: back to New York. I'll do some work, meet up with friends and then fly back home to celebrate my 30.th birthday.
Wish me luck..

Susanne
