There were guns everywhere. A few cars ahead got to drive right through, but the main officer in uniform started waving a bright flag. Our first time at a Mexican military checkpoint was already turning sour.

Watch our latest video below to learn what happened when we were faced with the Federales in Mexico while driving our car from Puerto Peñasco to Hermosillo, Mexico. Luckily, we didn't end up in jail after pissing them off, but it's an embarrassing moment we'll never forget.

Ha. Don't stress it. When we were in Vietnam we were saying hello to everyone which is xin chào, but if you put inflection on the wrong syllable it means "give me soup". So yeah, after two weeks we learned we had been ordering everyone to give us soup.
I think it's best to let them know you aren't fluent in Spanish like mi Espanol es muy malo, but they really like it and you more if you are at least trying vs. just acting like you don't know a word of Spanish. Happy and safe travels to you.

Hahaha, we both laughed so hard when we read this. I'm literally crying laughing at "Give me soup."

Glad all went well...funny though....been funnier if you could have recorded the conversation or take videos of the incident...

We would've loved to take a video of the interaction, but we were afraid how they might react if they found out that we were recording. Maybe one of these days we'll figure out how to discreetly record interactions like this.

I heard if you get in some touch dangerous situation with police in Mexico, you can bribe you way out of it and it is okay to bribe....thoughts?

I hear that you shouldn't offer a bribe, but sometimes you'll run into a crooked cop who asks for a bribe. In that case of them asking, it's up to you whether or not you want to pay it.

That was funny, luckily they let you go.
