Wat Fang Min is one of the most beautiful and famous ancient temples among tourists in Chiang Rai province. It is located on the river bank of Kok river.
Wat means temple
Fang means the land that is next to or the edge of; i.e. the water’s edge, etc.
Min is a local dialect of the northern region that means close to the edge, almost about to fall
Wat Fang Min therefore means a temple located on the bank of a river; i.e. this temple was so close to the river that it almost collapsed or eroded by the flow of the water.
At the west of the temple, you will see the Peacock Arch door in the far distance. It's believed that if you want to have good fortune, you would step to the temple through this door.
Phra Wihan Laplae Luang has beautiful architecture of Lanna.
The giant Nagas on both sides of the stairs look awesome and majestic.
Inside the Viharn is enshrined Phra Singh 2, which is a sacred Buddha statue of Chiang Rai province.
The surrounding nature in the temple is nice-looking with many trees and some corners are decorated by colorful lanterns which make the temple look more attractive.
I can say that Wat Fang Min is a fascinating landmark and a tourist attraction where you can experience religion, art, culture and local wisdom as well.
