Exploring the Kawasan Falls in Badian - Philippines

in travel •  7 years ago

It’s our last full day in the Philippines so we decided to go on another trip and make the most out of the day before going back to Germany. This time our destination is Kawasan Falls, a beautiful three step waterfall with clear turquoise mountain water in a jungle like environment where you can swim, relax, get a natural massage or even go on a canyoneering adventure.

The Kawasan Falls are located in the rain forest approximately 20 km south of Moalboal. To get there we took one of the yellow buses from the town center and told the driver to drop us of near the falls. When we arrived we paid a small entrance fee of 40Php. There are quite a few guides offering to bring you to the falls but the way up is very easy so a guide is not really needed. After walking 15-20 minutes along this beautiful river and crossing a few bridges, we finally could catch the first glimpse of the falls. A few minutes later we arrived at the first level of the Kawasan Fall which is also the most crowded one. The further you go up, the less people you see and the scenery gets wilder and even more impressive.

We were lucky that it wasn’t that crowded when we arrived, so we got a nice place near the pool below the waterfall, put our stuff aside and jumped into the cold refreshing water. It was just amazing swimming in this stunning turquoise pool that is surrounded by this lush green tropical vegetation. That was just what we needed after the hike up to the falls on this hot and sunny day. If you like you can also rent one of the bamboo rafts that will bring you directly under the waterfall where you can enjoy a nice natural massage from the waterfall. Before moving on we had lunch at the small restaurant enjoying the view.

If you are more on the adventures side, you can also book a canyoneering tour. In Moalboal are many companies where you can book one. The tour usually starts in the small village Alegria and also includes pick up from your resort and often also some food and drinks. We decided to keep it simple this time and just enjoyed the day at the falls without a tour or anything. It was the perfect destination before going back. We really enjoyed our stay even though the place is really touristy. Overall it was an amazing day and I can only recommend checking out the falls, they are beautiful.
