Well, as you all may know, there are a lot of places where you can enjoy the magical hour of the sunset… Yes, like… Everywhere. But there are special places in this world… Places we call Paradises on Earth!
The Plitvice Lakes National Park, in Croatia, is one of those places…
What an amazing place we @travelingstories have been to in Croatia, don’t you think, Steemians? Located in Central Croatia, near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina and at about two hours by car from Zagreb, this is one of the most beautiful places we have been to!
The Plitvice Lakes National Park is a 300 square kilometers national park, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage, visited by roughly 1 million visitants each year, that come to the place to wonder Nature in its purest state…
This national park has an impressive diversity of sights, ranging from canyons to lakes (it has about 16 named lakes and many more without a name), to cascades, green areas and swamp-like zones. You can walk around the park, but there’s also ways to make shortcuts and even some small touristic “trains” and an electric boat that connect distant areas.
You can expect to spend a considerable amount of time, since you’ll feel the urge to stay as long as you can in the park, so be prepared for it. Walking and climbing will play a major role during your visit and take some food and beverages with you. There are seven different routes you can take, so one day at the park would be great! At the entrance or online, you’ll find information on the different routes so you can plan ahead, since there are some that may take about 8 hours to complete :)
To reach the Plitvice National Park, you can go by car (if you’re renting one, for instance) or you can grab a public bus or a specialized one at Zagreb, the capital of Croatia (another place we @travelingstories will cover soon).
The price of the tickets ranges from 55 HRK (about 7€) to 180 HRK (about 24€), depending on the period you’re going to visit the park. It’s more expensive on July and August. If you’re interested, there are some hotels in the area that you can book and truly enjoy the calm of the place.
The park is open to visitors year round. Also, it’s important to pay attention to the rules, since the sustainability of the ecosystem is essential: it’s forbidden to swim (sniff…) and to feed the animals you can find during your visit.Oh and before we @travelingstories finish another post just be sure to… Enjoy Nature and Travel a Lot in this New Year of 2018! :)
