US Virgin Islands do NOT require Covid test or vaccination for entry

This is a strange one because travel to the United States is still heavily restricted and this doesn't make a great deal of sense but I have a theory on why that is: The USA is a big part of the reason why the entire world reacted the way that they did to Covid, and now they feel as though they have to "see this through" in order to save face and not admit that they were terribly terribly wrong to have taken the senseless actions that they did.

I guess it doesn't apply to places that rely almost entirely on tourism for money though because that is exactly what we are seeing in the US Virgin Islands which is still the United States.

To be honest, USVI is not a place I have ever seriously contemplated going to because I am a budget-traveler. I prefer for my travel to be a longer experience rather than a luxurious one. The Virgin Islands (US or otherwise) are generally more upscale travel destinations and are frequented by the rich and famous people who have their own seaworthy vessels such as yachts and catamarans.

I'm sure it is just an amazing coincidence that a place that is unofficially reserved for the wealthy dropped their travel restrictions. I'm sure it has nothing to do with wealthy people always getting to do whatever they want. No, no chance of that.

Now let's make something clear: This zero test policy previously ONLY applied to people coming from the United States. Foreign visitors needed to upload proof of vaccination and take a PCR test from the information I can see online. This was upsetting to me seeing as how the United States has one of the lowest vaccination rates of any developed country in the world.

As of June 1st all of these restrictions were tossed out. Hopefully this is a sign that the mainland is going to follow suit very soon.

Also, from what I have heard they are still sticking to the mask policy even though most of the world has already thrown this completely unproven, environmentally destructive policy out the door.

It remains to be seen if they are going to stick with this because as the rest of the world has already shown, people are sick and tired of being told that they have to wear a face covering that time and time again is proven to be all but completely useless in regards to transmission of any virus, including this one. I really can't understand why it is that the United States is being such a stick in the mud as far as all of this is concerned since nearly all of our buddies over in Europe have gotten rid of almost everything Covid-related.

So while the Virgin Islands are lovely and very unique, I probably would still avoid them until they can get rid of the mask stuff which is probably just around the corner. These things tend to go in phases and getting rid of the requirements for entry has always been the first one.

Congratulations USVI, I'm sure it has been a tough road for you guys but perhaps your success in this endeavor can be a benchmark for the rest of the United States and they can finally get rid of these silly regulations for the nation as a whole.
