Stopping for a few hours in Sibiu, I walked slowly toward the center, taking advantage of the fact that the mighty rain had stopped somewhat.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN SIBIU

Sibiu seemed to me a bohemian town, maybe where I met him for a capricious weather, which predisposes you to romance and dreaming.

Even though the sky was gray, I could see a colorful town with houses that gaze out of their own roofs. It is almost an artistic city, full of paintings all the way ...FB_IMG_1505643352632.jpgFB_IMG_1505643349402.jpg
We stopped in the center to admire it and headed for the Great Square where we admired the Brukenthal National Museum, the first museum not only in the country, but in Central and Eastern Europe. The museum has collections of contemporary, European, Romanian art and presents the history of the pharmacy. Otherwise, considering that the first pharmacy in Romania was opened in Sibiu, but also the first hospital in 1292.FB_IMG_1505643554922.jpg
Being only passing through Sibiu, we did not visit the museum, but we did not resist playing with the asphalt gnats. Here is also the Town Hall Building and the Roman Catholic Church.FB_IMG_1505643708868.jpgFB_IMG_1505643713094.jpg
I took it by chance, passing through the Stairs Passage (also called the Wall with Ace), built of stone and brick in the fourteenth century in the 3rd fortification of the city and reconfirmed in 2006 the last time. Here we saw a golden barrel restaurant, but we had the head to eat at the Sibian wine cellar we heard before we got here. There was more time to stop at the Wine Cellar Restaurant, a walk through Sibiu takes your eyes, so you can hardly get to the final destination.FB_IMG_1505643949039.jpgFB_IMG_1505643952823.jpgFB_IMG_1505643956126.jpg
We went through Huet Square, where we found the oldest settlement in Sibiu and the House of the Cafes, the only one of its kind in Romania, where there were 30 guilds in the past, and we admired the Evangelical Church, great organ in Romania and SE Europe, executed in baroque style, being the tallest building in Sibiu.FB_IMG_1505644169707.jpgFB_IMG_1505644164393.jpgFB_IMG_1505644167121.jpg
I could not miss in Sibiu the famous Bridge of Lies (the first iron bridge in our country, rebuilt in 1859), about which I have heard countless stories, lies or ba ... It is said that lovers met here ... It is also said that starts scratching if you lie and you get naked, if you do not even fall from it in its incriminating movement! I did not try to lie 🙂. Near the bridge with many legends, there is the Butchers' Hall.FB_IMG_1505644400669.jpgFB_IMG_1505644398129.jpgFB_IMG_1505644404230.jpg
I liked the fact that everywhere there are informative panels indicating the important tourist attractions of Sibiu.FB_IMG_1505644541501.jpg
After we had calmed our hunger at the Sibenian Wine, the Tower of the Council came out in our way, making the transition from the Small Square (Small Ring) to the Great Square in Sibiu through the entrance gate to the second belt of fortifications of the city.FB_IMG_1505644636889.jpg
The tower of the Council, which is one of the most famous monuments in Sibiu, has seven floors, the building being supported by counterforts, but only during the construction of the building, namely 1224-1241, we see only the first floor, the rest being the result of the restoration, modifications and additions to his present appearance (in 1585 the upper floors of the tower collapsed, and in 1824 the former roof of the tower was demolished). The tower was rebuilt practically in 1588, but its appearance today has since the last restoration of 1824.FB_IMG_1505644720405.jpg
Its name comes from the Council building next to which it was built and where the city council is gathering. The clock that dates from 1494 and is the second clock tower in Romania on the sixth floor has four quadrants, visible on all sides of the tower.FB_IMG_1505644800884.jpg
It seems that I have a predilection for the horologues and try not to get rid of anywhere I go, last being last year in Sighisoara Citadel.FB_IMG_1505644922255.jpg
The Tower of the Council of Sibiu had numerous destinations in time, from observation tower to warehouse, fireplace, prison, museum. Today, it hosts temporary exhibitions, and in the past there is a permanent exhibition of exhibits from the Brukenthal Museum.FB_IMG_1505644992939.jpg
Access to the tower is made from the Little Market, on a narrow door. The narrow stairs that climb you up to every level have the gift of dizziness, but the fabulous landscape seen from the top floor, the panorama of the Little Market, the many restaurants, the Big Market, where Easter and Christmas fairs take place. Sibiu, in general, but also the Făgăraş mountains worth the effort!FB_IMG_1505645174308.jpgFB_IMG_1505645176724.jpgFB_IMG_1505645178844.jpgFB_IMG_1505645181361.jpg
I was too lonely, but enough to want to come back to Sibiu, to see him smiling as well when the sun makes his eyes on the houses ...

Other tourist attractions not to be missed:

Astra Museum
Ursulin Church
The Great Fountain Grill (where executions took place)
House HallerFB_IMG_1505645452535.jpg
And to add some records, in Sibiu it was the first school, the first encyclopedia was published, the first paper mill was published in Romania, the first Romanian book in Ardeal is printed, the city has the oldest Romanian herbarium in the Museum of Natural History and the first garden appears in Sibiu
zoo ...FB_IMG_1505645637725.jpgFB_IMG_1505645640159.jpgFB_IMG_1505645642188.jpgFB_IMG_1505645644256.jpg
