well as they say, all good things come to an end. We have left Sawarna and made the arduous trip to Jakarta (where I sit and write this) We hit the beers last night so the morning session was pretty sluggish. Nonetheless we dragged ourselves up at 5.30am and were in the water by 6.30am. Swell was a solid 4 - 5 foot and slight offshore wind. We both scored some nice final waves.
The family at the Widi Homestay were super friendly and I just am always humbled by people that open their homes to visitors. We were treated just like one of the family. We could walk in and out of the kitchen anytime and use the house like it was ours. This was our 3rd visit staying with them and certainly will be back again! Here's the obligatory farwell photo in front of their charming pink house...:)
Our boy Danny picked us up on time with an icebox of cold beer and off we headed to Jakarta. The 1st half of the trip is a long winding mountain road and Danny drove like a complete crazy person (thats why we asked for the beers). It's anyway how everyone drives in Indonesia so no real worries. Check out this cool bike I found when we stopped for a pee. Indonesia has a thriving bike modification scene and these kind of one-off bikes are everywhere....
We stopped for lunch at an amazing Padang restaurant. Padang food in Indonesia is from a particular region in Sumatra and it's hands down my fave food. They basically put everything on the table and you only pay for what you eat. The four of (Danny brought his wonderful wife Giggy) gorged ourselves for about 15$US. I was too hungry to take pics before we ate but here is what was left...:)
Here we are at Jakarta domestic airport now waiting our flights. Readers will be glad to know that we were never asked anything about vaccine proof and most people dont seem to give a crap about wearing masks. Bali here we come amnd cant wait. More tomorrow.
I'm Jobiker and I'm on my way to Bali! Peace!
