The ways of God: But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God

On his second missionary journey, Paul founded the Corinthian church, dedicating two epistles to it, in this church the apostle preached for more than a year with the help of God. After his departure from Corinth he receives news about serious divisions in the community. It is in this situation that Paul sends them a second letter reaffirming his condition as an apostle, explaining to them that although the messengers and propagators of the word are human and therefore weak and flawed, that should not keep them from the treasure of the gospel. This is how Paul, in his letter, tries to explain to us that the mysteries or treasures of God are presented to us in a paradoxical manner. The ways of God are not our ways.
The knowledge of God is often compared to a spiritual treasure in the Bible, this treasure also and in a certain sense, is the same eternal life: "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal" Matthew 6:20.
But this treasure that Jesus grants us with his grace is placed in us, who are clay pots: "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us" 2 Corinthians 4:7.
The apostle Paul continues his explanation in the epistle telling us that the mercy (compassion) and greatness of God is manifested in the weakness of man: "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body." 2 Corinthians 4:8-10.
